In Malta & Gozo: Savoring Ancient Cuisines

La cucina e’ l’unica arte che pratichiamo giornalmente e che solo in anni recenti ha assunto un significato globale di maggiore importanza.  Io amo cucinare, amo assaporare, amo creare e – una parte essenziale di ogni mio viaggio – e’ l’approfondimento della cucina locale.  Lo scorso anno ho avuto l’opportunita’ straordinaria di visitare le isole mediterranee di Malta e Gozo.  Vi present un assaggio dei sapori antichi della cucina maltese che mischiano il siciliano all’africano all’arabeggiante all’inglese insieme ad ingredienti indigeni e naturali del luogo.  Nelle prossime settimane, vi raccontero’ anche delle affascinante avventure in entrambe isole, vi parlero’ dei Maltesi, persone solari, dinamiche, appassionate, ma molto semplici, senza complicazioni.  Auguro a voi e alle vostre famiglie una serena domenica, e a presto!   Francesca

Cooking is the only art that we practice daily and that only in recent years has taken on greater significance on a global scale. I love to cook, love to savor, and love to create – an essential part of all of my travels –  is the deepening of local cuisines. Last year I had the opportunity to visit the extraordinary Mediterranean islands of Malta and Gozo.  I am sharing here a taste of the ancient flavors and cuisine of Malta:  a mix of Sicilian, African, Arabic, and English along with indigenous and natural local ingredients. In the coming weeks, I will tell you more about my fascinating adventures on both islands, I’ll talk about the Maltese people, solar, dynamic, passionate, but very simple, very much “uncomplicated.”  I wish you and your families a peaceful Sunday, a presto!
