September 2014: Romantic Sicily Tour !!!!

Today I come bearing a SURPRISE for all of you!!!! So happy to share/announce the “Romantic Sicily Tour” we have designed at Italian Tours by Diana!! Day 1 Saturday September 27, 2014 Depart  

International flights Cleveland-Rome.
Day 2 Sunday September 28, 2014 Rome 

Buongiorno Bella Italia!! Arrive at Rome Fiumicino Airport. Private transfer to hotel. Check in and settle. Remainder of afternoon at leisure to rest prior to our first dinner together. Overnight in Roma. PT/D/PT TAXI RT/H
Day 3 Monday September 29, 2014 Roma Antica

Breakfast at hotel. Our private bilingual guide and driver will meet us in the hotel lobby at 10am for a tour of Ancient Roma and all its glory. As we plunge into the vivacious traffic of Rome, our senses will be simultaneously stimulated by antiquity and modern day society. We will feel the heart-beat of the city as we pass through the Piazza Venezia where we will admire the huge monument dedicated to the first Italian King Vittorio Emmanuelle II. Today, this has been dedicated to the memory of the unknown soldiers with the eternal flame. You will pass the Teatro Marcello and The Circus Maximus, the site of many chariot races. We will take a stroll through the Roman Forum, rich with antiquity. Through the main square of Rome, crossing the Via Sacra (the Sacred Way), the most important street in ancient Rome where many triumphant processions took place. We will see the ruins of some ancient monuments as well as the Triumphal Arches of Titus and Septimius Severus, the Curia, seat of the Roman Senate, the Basilica Emilia and the Basilica Julia which were both used for business transactions. We will also see The Vesta Temple with the house of the Vestal Virgins, and finally the Temples of Antoninus and Faustina, Vespasian and Saturn. We will enter The Coliseum the magnificent Flavian Amphitheatre where we will envision the gladiator duels, wild beast fights and naval battles which were arranged for the entertainment of the Roman people. The Arch of Constantine is visible from here as well. At the end of our guided tour, we will have time to relax at an outdoor café or discover something new in the Eternal City. Day 4 Tuesday September 30, 2014 Roma Religiosa

Breakfast at hotel and at 10am we will meet once again our private guide for a tour which will begin with a visit to the Pio-Clementino Museum and will then move on to the visitation of The Vatican, The Sistine Chapel and The Vatican Museums. The journey through the Vatican Museums will proceed through the Gallery of the Candelabra, the Gallery of Tapestries and the Gallery of Maps and from these Galleries, we will enter directly into the Raphael Rooms, where we will observe the extraordinary frescoes executed by Raphael and the Sistine Chapel. The actual visit to the Basilica, the largest Christian place in the World, will include a viewing of the magnificent Pieta by Michelangelo, Bernini’s bronze Baldacchino (canopy), and the throne of St. Peter. At the end of our tour you may visit the underground catacombs which house the remains of the popes. Remainder of day at leisure in Rome. This may be a good time to complete some of your shopping. Day 5 Wednesday October 1, 2014 Roma, Taormina, Sicily

Breakfast at hotel and private transfer to Rome Fiumicino Airport for inter-Italy flight to Catania. Upon arrival private transfer to our hotel in the Sicilian Jewel of Taormina. Check in hotel and settle. Remainder of afternoon at leisure to rest or explore the beautiful alleys of Taormina independently. In the evening, we will meet in the hotel lobby for an exquisite Sicilian dinner prior to overnight. B/PT/Flight/PT/D/H
Day 6 Thursday October 2, 2014 Taormina

Breakfast at hotel and mid-morning meet our private, bilingual and certified guide for a tour that will include the Teatro Greco built in 300 BC by the Ancient Greeks and then expanded and further detailed by the Romans upon their arrival centuries later. Always a very lively and attractive spot in town, the Teatro offers its modern day visitors a simultaneously spectacular view of sea, coastline and smoking volcano. From here we will stroll through Corso Umberto, the main street which snakes through the elegant city center. After our tour, we will stop at Pasticceria Roberto for a sampling of the scrumptious pastries this humble artisan is known for. Remainder of day at leisure. Overnight in Taormina. Day 7 Friday October 3, 2014 Agrigento

Breakfast at hotel and then we are off to one of Sicily’s most enchanting and ancient locations: the Valley of Temples in Agrigento! Upon arrival we will meet our private, bilingual and certified guide for a fascinating walking tour back in time. It is the site of the ancient Greek city of Akragas, which was one of the predominant cities of Magna Graecia during the golden age of Ancient Greece. We will be guided back to the glory of this modern day ruin as we stroll through the famous Valley of the Temples. Lunch in Agrigento and return to Taormina. Evening and dinner at leisure. Overnight in Taormina. B/PD/G/ET/L/H
Day 8 Saturday October 4, 2014 Noto, Catania, Rome

Breakfast at hotel. Today is our last day in Sicily! We will begin with a leisurely ride to explore the Baroque art and architecture of Noto. Located in the Val Di Noto and nominated Unesco World Heritage Site, we will take a pleasant stroll back in time. Enjoy lunch in Noto and transfer to Catania for flight to Rome. Upon arrival, transfer to hotel and check in. Prepare for overseas departure and overnight. B/PT/G/ET/L/PT/Flight/PT/H

Day 9 Sunday October 5, 2014 Depart

Breakfast at hotel. Private transfer to Rome Fiumicino Airport for international flights. Arrivederci, Bella Italia !! B/PT

    May I suggest a marketing idea to you.

    · Assumption: many who take the Sicilian Tour clients had grandparents or great grandparents who were born in Sicily.

    · Suggestion: why not give them a Italian property title report showing the names of their ancestors or map of the property that was abandoned when to travelled to the USA decades ago. This would be one way of thanking your clients for taking your tour to Sicily …..or whatever Regione of Italy
