Sicilian almond or lemon “granite”: best summer breakfast ever….

Buongiorno!! Everybody awake?? Hope you had a wonderful weekend….hey, Happy July 1 !! Summer is here and in full swing – my favorite time of the year – guess what Francesca is dreaming of ??? A “granita siciliana” every morning for breakfast with brioche  – I promise you: best summer breakfast EVA ;)) Refreshing, satisfying, sweet enough to get you going.  Just perfetta :))

This is commonly referred to as “Italian ice” in the USA…..but we need to talk:  granita was an arabic-sicilian invention that ONLY exists in SICILIA!! In fact, if you were to travel to any other Italian city looking for “Italian ice” you will not find it….

My favorites are “granita al limone” or “alla mandorla” {lemon or almond flavors} depending on the day…..here I was enjoying one “alla mandorla and cioccolata” last October…..notice the “brioche” bigger than my face ;))
